Break time
I’m headed to Mexico for a fishing trip vacation this week and won’t be back until early next week. It’s a much-needed break, as I’ve taken little time off over the last year. It’s also good timing, since we’re about to hit the final 5-month stretch of development of my year and a half long project, and personally I’m close to reaching a stage of burnout. The break is needed.
It’s easy to get burned out in software. The mental exercise required for software development can be the physical equivalent of aerobics, strength training, and yoga all at once. Obviously trying to do those can be taxing on the body, and if the body needs a break with physical exercise, then the mind needs a break with mental exercise.
So, I’m going to a remote location. No computers. No cell phones. No TV’s. No radios. Only margaritas, Coronas, a book or two, and hopefully a lot of fish. Pretty much a total break from normal life and civilization. Hopefully I come back refreshed and ready to go.
Have a good week.
