Industry events

I've been out of town the last few days at a Product Steering Committee event held by Presagis for the simulation industry. The event was under NDA, so I can't talk about it, but it was a good experience and I thank Presagis for inviting me out to talk about their products. Needless to say, I'm pretty worn out from the long days, but the weekend approaches.

One thing I did want to say is that if you ever have an opportunity to go to an event in your industry, whether invited or on your own, then go for it and make the most of it. I haven't had a lot of opportunities to go to simulation industry-specific events (besides IITSEC for a few hours each year), so it was a great experience to be able to speak relatively open with representatives of companies in my space, find out what others are doing, and forge potential partnerships. From my experience, simulation is probably a more cut-throat industry than the games industry (more contract based, and only one company can get the contract), so these types of opportunities are pretty rare.
